Competition Entry

The Haddow Partnership have entered the "Algyo Primary School Architectural Competition" in Hungary. Primary designers were Gergely Sipos and Peter Gal who successfully designed a sustainable school for children aged between 7 and 14 years.

The competition brief was to design an ECO building for children aged 7-14. The proposed design illustrated 3 functional and connecting units; a school, a sports hall and a canteen, yet each retained the ability to operate independently from each other. Careful consideration was given to the scale of the proposal and by working with local materials the building blended within the existing environment. The school included courtyards for open learning with classrooms on two levels separating the junior and senior students. Internally, constantly changing colours were introduced by way of coloured glass providing a warm, friendly and relaxed area for both students and teachers.
